How to clean Washing Machine

Having the right washing machine that fits your lifestyle is essential for your home. To extend the life of it, cleaning your washing machine is an effective and easiest way. But, do you really know how to clean it like new? Whether your machine is a top loader or front loader, these simple steps and tools that easily find in every home, are sure to keep it well-cared for!

Items needed:

Baking Soda, White Vinegar, Warm Water, A Soft Brush, A Microfiber Cloth

Step 1: Scrub and Wipe

Sprinkle white vinegar on a microfiber cloth and wipe the front and sides. Do not miss out the top and bottom of the washing machine lid and the rubber gaskets you can find.

Then, take a soft brush and start scrubbing off the soap scums from the detergent and fabric softener dispenser. You may use toothbrush too.

Also, don’t forget the lint filter as that’s where all sorts of dirt will get clogged.

Step 2: Soak your Drum

Fill your washer with warm water. Make sure that the amount of water used is the same as what you used when washing large laundry.

Next, add 2 cups of white vinegar and ¼ cup of baking soda. Soak it for 2 hours.

Step 3: Start the Wash Cycle

Start the wash cycle as usual after all the wiping, scrubbing and soaking process to remove the vinegar and baking soda solution.

Step 4: Fish out the scraps

When everything is ready, there will be mould residue on the bottom of the drum. Clean it and you are just one step away to a fresh and clean washing machine.

Step 5: Final Checking

Spot check for stain residue and putrid odour. If there is, run one more wash cycle with another ¼ cup of baking soda. If you haven’t cleaned your washing machine for a while, you’ll probably need to perform this step.

Just switch Step 2 as the first step and Step 1 as the second step. Then, follow the remaining 3 steps as usual.

Remember to open the lid and let it air dry after cleaning, no matter it’s a top-loading machine or a front-load machine. And now, your washing machine is ready for the next laundry.
